Dryer repair, including the vent behind it

No heat, cycles that run twice, burning smells and error codes on gas and electric dryers — plus the ducting that causes most of them.

  • Same-day appointments
  • Warranty on parts and labor

Most dryer calls we take in Los Angeles are not really dryer faults. The machine heats, the drum turns, the electronics are fine — and the load still comes out damp, because the hot, wet air has nowhere to go. Long duct runs through hillside homes in Studio City and the Palisades, crushed flexible hose behind a stacked unit, or fifteen years of lint in a vent through the roof will all do it.

So we test airflow before we sell you parts. If the machine genuinely has a failed heating element, thermal fuse, igniter or thermostat, our trucks carry those for the common Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Maytag, GE and Electrolux platforms and the job is finished the same visit.

Common dryer problems we fix

  • It runs but does not dry. Airflow, nine times out of ten. We measure it, clear the duct, and only then look at the heat source.
  • No heat at all. On electric dryers, a blown thermal fuse or a failed element — and the fuse blows for a reason, usually a blocked vent. On gas dryers, the igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coils.
  • A burning smell. Stop using it and call. That is lint against a hot element or a seized blower wheel, and it is the single most common cause of residential dryer fires.
  • Squealing or grinding. Drum rollers, the idler pulley or worn glides. Cheap parts, but they wear the belt and drum if you wait.
  • The drum will not turn. A snapped belt, most often. Ten minutes of labor once the cabinet is open.
  • It shuts off mid-cycle. Overheating on a restricted vent, a failing thermostat, or a moisture sensor reading a load that never dries.

Dryer vent cleaning

We clean the full duct run, not just the trap: rooftop and side-wall terminations, long horizontal runs, and the crushed flexible hose that hides behind stacked units. For most LA homes a clean every year or two is enough; if you run a household of five or the duct exits through the roof, make it annual.

Every dryer type we service

  • Gas and electric vented dryers, front and top control
  • Ventless condenser and heat-pump dryers, including compact 24-inch units
  • Stacked laundry centers and washer-dryer combos
  • European platforms: Miele, Bosch, Asko, Electrolux
  • Building and light commercial laundry equipment

Dryer Repair FAQ

Why does my dryer take two cycles to dry one load?

Restricted airflow almost every time. Before booking anyone, pull the lint screen and check whether the exterior vent flap actually opens while the dryer runs. If it barely moves, the duct is the problem, not the dryer.

How often should the vent be cleaned?

Every one to two years for a typical household, annually for large families, long duct runs or rooftop terminations. It is the cheapest fire-risk reduction available in a home.

Is a gas dryer repair safe to leave until next week?

If you can smell gas, no — shut off the supply and call the gas company first. If it simply is not igniting, it is not dangerous to leave, but do not keep cycling it hoping it catches.

Can you service a stacked unit in a closet?

Yes. Tell dispatch it is stacked when you book — those jobs get scheduled with the time needed to pull and re-seat the unit safely.
