Appliance repair

Dishwasher repair, leaks included

Dishes coming out dirty, water standing in the base, doors that no longer seal and quiet leaks working their way under the cabinets — found and fixed properly.

  • Same-day appointments
  • Warranty on parts and labor

A dishwasher is the appliance most likely to damage the rest of your kitchen. It sits under a countertop, backs onto cabinetry, and when a door gasket or a hose fitting starts weeping it does so quietly, into the subfloor. By the time the flooring lifts, the repair bill has stopped being about the dishwasher.

That is why we check the seals, the sump and the connections on every dishwasher call, even when you booked us for something else entirely. Hard water across much of Los Angeles adds the other half of the story: scale on the heating element, in the spray arms and through the filter is behind most “it stopped cleaning properly” complaints.

Common dishwasher problems we fix

  • Water standing in the bottom. A blocked filter, a clogged drain hose, a jammed drain pump, or an air gap that has silted up. Two of those you can clear yourself; we will show you which.
  • Dishes coming out gritty or filmed. Scale and food debris in the spray arms and filter, a failed wash pump, or water that never reaches temperature.
  • Leaking from the door. The door gasket, or a hinge that has dropped enough to break the seal along the bottom edge.
  • Leaking underneath. The sump seal, a hose clamp or the inlet valve. This is the one worth booking immediately.
  • It will not start or drain. Door latch switch, control board, or a drain solenoid that has stopped responding.
  • Not drying. Heating element, vent flap or rinse aid on condenser-dry European models — Bosch and Miele in particular dry very differently from American units, and are often working exactly as designed.

Dishwashers we service

  • Built-in 24-inch and compact 18-inch dishwashers
  • Fully integrated units with custom cabinet panels
  • Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer and other drawer dishwashers
  • European platforms: Bosch, Miele, Asko, Gaggenau, Thermador

Dishwasher Repair FAQ

There is water in the bottom after every cycle. Is that normal?

A small amount in the sump is normal by design. Several inches of standing water is not — that is a drainage restriction, and the first two places to look are the filter and the air gap on the countertop.

Why do my dishes come out with a white film?

Hard water. Rinse aid and a periodic descale usually fix it; if it persists, the heating element is scaled up and the wash is never reaching temperature.

Can you replace a dishwasher as well as repair one?

Yes. If the repair does not make economic sense we can remove the old unit and install the replacement, including the water, drain and electrical connections.

My Bosch does not dry the plastics. Is it faulty?

Almost certainly not. Condenser-dry machines use residual heat rather than an element, and plastics hold too little of it. Rinse aid and cracking the door at the end of the cycle makes a noticeable difference.
